Rinku’s Passion for English: A Story of Dedication and Talent
Rinku was an eighth-grader with a passion for English that made him stand out. While his grades in other subjects were average, English was different – it made him feel alive, like a musician with a melody only he could hear. However, Rinku's classmates often overlooked his talent, seeing him as just another “quiet, below-average” student.
One afternoon, the English teacher made a surprising announcement. "Since we’re ahead in the syllabus, we’ll be having activity sessions! You’ll write a poem, craft a letter, and there’s even a surprise grammar test."
Rinku's heart leapt with excitement. Finally, he could showcase his talent. The first activity was a poem about nature. While the other students groaned, Rinku could hardly wait to write. With enthusiasm, he wrote:
Nature
Mother Nature, you care for all your children without discrimination.
You are the heartbeat of all creatures in the universe,
Rarer than diamonds,
Life would be dull and meaningless without you!
The next day, the teacher returned the evaluated poems.
She paused at Rinku’s, surprised. An A+? She called him up, asking, “Rinku, can
you recite your poem for the class?”
Nervously, Rinku stammered, “I… I can’t remember the lines.”
The teacher’s face turned skeptical, suspecting he’d copied it. She crossed out
the A+ and marked it as a C instead, leaving Rinku feeling hurt and
misunderstood. His passion for English suddenly felt like a burden.
Days later, the teacher announced a grammar test. This
time, Rinku sat confidently at the front and answered each question with ease.
When she reviewed his test, she realized her mistake.
Rinku’s answers were flawless. “Rinku,” she said, “I owe you an apology.
Your poem about nature was yours, and it was beautiful.”
At the year-end assembly, the teacher called Rinku up
on stage. “For his dedication and talent,” she announced, “Rinku is awarded the
title of Best English Activity Performer of the Year!”
Rinku beamed, his passion finally recognized and celebrated.
Moral of the Story: Follow your passion, and don’t let doubts dim your light. Real talent shines through eventually.
