The Elephant and Merchant

Jovi lived in Vanipura, was a famous mahout in that village. Elephants liked him so much, had strong emotional bonding. Most of the time with the herd was the only work he knew. There were more than fifty elephants trained under him. He could even understand communication that elephants make particular vibrations. He never used tools to control an elephant hook, bush knife, or ear halter to control the herd.



One day a merchant came to Vanipura as a tourist. He came to know about Jovi is very much famous Mahout. The trained elephants are very much unique in the world.

Merchant requested Jovi to show his herd as he loves the elephant. By late evening mahout took the tourist to sight the beautiful lake. They had snacks nearby the shop. He offered to gain a large sum of money for selling the tusk of the elephant.
 
Mahout said no at first but later agreed that it would be a large sum of money. Due to advice by the merchant, he became so greedy. He planned to take off an elephant life to become rich.

Elephants always bathe in the Rimini pond and drink water from the tank. The next day early morning with ten packs of poison came near the tank. He mixed the poison in a tank and was waiting for elephants.

By six in the early morning with the herd, Rani came. She was the tweel-year-old daughter of Jovi. All came near to the Rimmi pond and started to play with water. Jovi hid behind a tree and started to watch them. After elephants bathe and play, Rani was guiding them to come out of the pond. She stood near the first top edge stone of the pond calling all the elephants names. All the elephants were so friendly with Rani too. The elephants hearing their names stop playing and started to come out of the pond. On seeing this, Rani felt so happy and started to jump where she was standing. Unfortunately, she missed the balance and started to roll down. Jovi shouted Rani, Rani, Rani. Shouted saves my child.

The fortunate of Jovi, Elephant by name Jaggu was at the fifth step. He placed tusk and saved Rani from serious injury. Rani was happy because Jaggu helped and hugged Jaggu's trunk. On seeing this Jovi was in shock and felt ashamed of himself. He immediately emptied the water from the tank. He bows down to the entire herd for his mistake.Therafter  Jovi cared for elephants even more than his children.
